An old Peanuts cartoon that I used to have tacked up on a corkboard by my bed. I have an extensive collection of rejection letters from when I was in my early teens. While I wasn't successful, I'm still proud of myself for having worked so hard. I'm proud even of my rejection letters because, hell, I even got a couple notes from editors, and I count that as a win :)

You're Getting Coal

Okay, no you're not. You're getting nothing. Unless you're my mom, sister, husband, or godson. Or you gave me your address for a Christmas card. Otherwise? You're getting nothing.

See, we're motherfucking broke, y'all! And that's actually, okay. This season we had some unexpected expenses (new door, moving grandma, etc.), so it left us strapped on the heels of our honeymoon. Know what that means? We don't have to worry about hours of shopping or getting the perfect gift.

If somebody wants something, they can come spend ACTUAL TIME with us. For real. With us. Like, hanging. Or watching Christmas movies. Or tacky horror movies. I like those even better. So if you want to know why I'm not getting you a gift? It's because I've already given you the best gift of all: me. Or something.

Subnote: It's all Aunt Becky's fault that I'm posting so much. She's inspirational. It's messed up.

The Meaning of Christmas

 

Actually, the meaning of every day. This is what it's about. My hubby, our puppies, cuddling, and having fun. I'm reminding myself of that this year. I'm not freaking out because the budget's low and we're keeping gifts simple or because I TOTALLY bought Pillsbury dough instead of making cookies from scratch. Instead I'm happy to have my little family, I'm looking forward to seeing any other friends and family that come our way, and I'm relishing the thought of some quiet time at home. We've earned it. ALL of us (this means you too!). So have a very merry holiday and enjoy the hell out of any vacation time you might have coming your way :D

Hottie of othe Week: Nathan Fillion

I kinda feel like I don't even have to talk on this one. I mean, you *can* see him, right? Add to that the humor, the talent, and the fact that he is a huge and unapologetic geek, and you have easily one of the sexiest guys out there. He's Mal, he's Captain Hammer, and he's Castle. What more could you want?

Also, if you don't follow him on Twitter, you're missing out. Hilarity ensues.

Hottie of the Week: Kevin Smith

How cute is he? This man is a genius. He makes great movies, he has a sick, twisted sense of humor, he's a complete and utter geek. What's not to love?

Since Kevin's a rockin' director, I will take this opportunity to say that so far I haven't hated any of his movies. I love some more than others, yes (especially Dogma - one of my all time favorite movies EVER), but I dig on all of them. Yep, including Jersey Girl. Take that, haters! ;)

Besides that, I'm pretty sure anyone who says they don't find Silent Bob at least a little adorable is lying. Lying through their dirty lying teeth. Just look at that face!

Hottie of the Week: Eric Balfour (semi NSFW)

Unlike most of my entries, this one shows a tiny itsy bit of nudity, so... be warned if you happen to be on the clock. That's why I pre-schedule these babies.

Yeah, check out the pictures. I admit I do enjoy him as an actor, but, hell, this is a shallow pick for me. He was one of the only parts of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake that didn't suck, he looks a bit like Brett Scallions (apparently I love a guy with a sexy, unusual nose... weird), and watching Duke and Nathan fight is the most entertaining part of Haven. Plus, look at the pictures. Uh huh.

Hey, I never pretended not to be shallow sometimes.
