Let's DO THIS!

This is my brain this morning.

This is a friendly reminder to all of you that I'll be doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month (ie starting April 1st). Yes, I'm going to have to get off my butt, wake myself up (my toddler, above, is illustrating my current mental state), and get some progress made.

I'm wildemoon there if anyone cares to stop by and make sure I'm actually writing. I changed my word count from 50k to 25k not so much because I'm copping out but because as I plotted it out, I realized the idea I wanted to tackle was a novella and not a novel. I'm tackling an urban fantasy romance this time around. Wish me luck, and let me know what you're doing with your projects this month!

All-Con 2014

If you look closely, you see an ad for Wilde Designs. Hello sweetie! Yep, I'm that special.

This was our first year attending All-Con Dallas, which is a fabulous pan-fandom convention that caters not only to cosplayers and hardcore comic nerds but survivalists, intellectuals, writers... it's pretty awesome. This was also our first multi-day con with our toddler, which was an interesting experience. I'm pleased to say that it went well despite one night of projectile vomiting brought on by the odd schedule and con diet (I swear, we brought oatmeal and fruit and it wasn't junk food, honest!).

My son is a Disney princess - at least at conventions.

I think the big highlight for Pike was the Disney sing-along with the DFW Disney Cosplayers Guild. They were fabulous - practiced, well-costumed, and adorable with the kids both during their panels and when they saw them out on the floor. There were two different Arials, and I think Pike was slightly in love with both of them. The first night he got up on stage after watching most of the performance and then we couldn't get him off. He even ended up dragging me up. Many of you know that getting me up in front of a crowd is something that I will pretty much only do for people I love madly.

There was some slight disappointment for me because a lot of the writing panels didn't happen because one of the presenters didn't show up. I'm grateful to Ethan Nahté, who stepped in for the horror writing panel and pretty much did a private workshop/rap session with those of us who had come for it. Great guy and some really great advice.

The hammer is my... wait... hmm...

A highlight for me was the showing of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog presented by United States of Geekdom. Singing with a room full of other dorky fans and some geeks doing screamer lines was fantastic. Sooo gooood. Hopefully they'll get to do it again next year and I can once again be there for it.

Pike met R2-D2. You should be jealous.

If you're interested, you can see my full album of photos here. If you're a geek and have the chance to attend, I highly recommend it. All-Con was good times, good people, and a nicely low key hotel where no one gave me any dirty looks. Schedules permitting, we'll definitely be going back.

Hottie of the Week: Anthony Andrews

Asian hottie last week, and British hottie this week. Better yet? Sophisticated, nice British hottie. My first exposure came through my mom, who showed me The Scarlet Pimpernel (it also includes a young Ian McKellen), then Brideshead Revisited... and I honestly dare you not to fall in love with him.

I actually started a mailing list fan club for him years and years ago. You can find it on Yahoogroups as the AnthonyAndrewsFanClub, and every year my fabulous group co-owner Patricia heads an effort in honor of Christmas and Anthony's birthday to raise money for the British Red Cross. Anthony usually signs a crop of photos to be auctioned off as part of the effort, so if you want to help charity and enjoy fangirling over Anthony, please join us!

Tunes Tuesday: "Time Travel is Lonely" by John Vanderslice

I'm so psyched! I've been saying for a long while that this is a perfect Doctor Who song. Somebody agreed. Fabulous!

Pitching a Tent

The time has come for me to once again stop screwing around and write something. I'll be doing Camp NaNoWriMo yet again, and as always will be using the handle wildemoon. Let me know what yours is if you'd like to share a cabin - the more the merrier!

I haven't kept up for the first part of this year. I admit it. I've been lazy. I haven't finished any stories, I haven't edited any of my mostly-done novels, I haven't gotten it together at all. The bright side? It doesn't mean that I can't do those things starting now. April is a fresh start.

Whether you're doing Camp NaNoWriMo or not, what are you doing right now to reach your goals (writing or otherwise)?

Hottie of the Week: Ananda Everingham

Asian horror hottie! Ananda not only has one of the more unique names I've come across, he's just... yummy. Look at him! I don't have anything deep or insightful to say here because the shallow truth is that I just want to look at him and play with his hair. Not even sorry.

Tunes Tuesday: "Bite Your Tongue" by Duncan Sheik

Sadly there's no fabulous music video to go with this fabulous song. It happens to be one of my favorites ever by one of my favorite artists ever. Some of you may know that my domain is BiteYourTongue.net (soon to undergo a redesign... ooo!). Hopefully you'll fall just as in love as I did.
