Wordless Wednesday

Yokohama, Japan, originally uploaded by bugletj.
Okay, not quite wordless... because I just want to say that someday, when I win the lotto, I will eat at all the Iron Chefs' restaurants. And I don't mean Iron Chef America ;)

Hottie of the Week: Sean Astin

All this talk about The Hobbit movie has made me miss my hobbit boys, so today I give you one of my faves: Sean Astin. He's cute, cuddly, totally adorable with his family... win!

A-Kon: Success

A-Kon is over. It was lots and lots of fun and, well, frankly, I don't want to go back to the real world and work and all that, but... at least I had some fun first. We hit up Rocky (great show and SEXY AS HELL pre-show), Repo (Beau as Nathan whaling on a fake guitar for "Down with the Sickness" was win), tons of anime geekiness, got some new yaoi manga to read...

I know this is hardly a fascinating or comprehensive rundown of it all, but I'm tired and facing a long work week, so it's the best you're getting for now, lads and lasses. Heading to bed shortly to try and prepare by sleeping. Hopefully a lot.

Review: Clairol Nice 'n' Easy Foam Shampoo

I'll start by saying that, no, I wasn't paid for this or given samples or anything. Though if anyone WANTS to pay me for an unbiased review of something, I'm full on down with that action. Also, props to MAB, whose recent entry on the same subject reminded me to write this up.

I picked up a pack of the Light Auburn shade to touch my hair up for A-Kon, where I'll be cosplaying as Amy Pond from Doctor Who. I'd seen ads and been hearing about this stuff, so I was really excited to finally find at least SOME shade of red (srsly, this is the only red shade I've seen in any brand thus far... sad panda).

At first I was a little weirded out because it wasn't all that foamy. I mean, it was sorta foamy, but actually more like thick spit when I first started using it. As I continued through the bottle it became more foamy and subsequently easier (and less messy) to use. I was able to work it through pretty consistently and easily. I also have below shoulder length hair and there was plenty in the bottle to cover it all, which was great. My husband noticed as the stuff was being worked in that it smelled like stale beer. Seeeeexy.

I figured that would fade with time. Hoped. After I let it set for 35 minutes (yay for stubborn gray!), I rinsed the stuff off. I was actually pleased with this too since it's less "clingy" than regular at home dyes, and the rinsing out was far faster. Sadly, even after using the conditioner, the stale beer smell lingered until my hair was washed for a haircut appointment the next day.

All in all, I would give this a try again, stale beer smell and all, if they come up with more red shades. I'm usually a "true red" or dark auburn kind of girl, so one shade of light auburn simply won't cut it for me long term.
